02:10:12 – Tallulah Gorge

At Tallulah Gorge State Park there’s a camp ground just before the visitor’s center if you want to make this trip an overnighter. From the campground (or the visitors center) you can hike to the normally visited vistas of the gorge. For the Seldom Seen South hike, walk an old logging road for 5 miles or so, one way, that dead ends at the shore of Lake Tugaloo. Along the way there are plenty of places to wander off-trail and who knows what you might discover. I found a decayed power pole with the ceramic conductors still attached. The round trip back from Lake Tugaloo to the visitor’s center will make this a 10 miler and a real good head-clearer.
