I went looking for ruins of old Smith Mill that may be hidden on the east bank of the Ocmulgee River at Forty Acre Island. I hoofed it through the woods, trailed up a sandy creek, weaved through a pine tree forest and after 7 miles made it down to the river where the water dam should have crossed but found nothing. The journey was the destination instead.
